deFarm’s Social Layer: Gamification in Design.
Introduction
The current model for the social internet is destination-based, which means that in order to interact with others, we have to stop what we are doing, switch to a social media app or site, and then start sharing and interacting with others. As a result, social media platforms have become bustling hubs in the city center, while other websites have turned into dull shops in the suburbs. Unfortunately, these suburban shops lack the energy and liveliness of the city center malls.
Now, let's consider a different approach that draws inspiration from urban planning. The idea is to design cities that prioritize people and walkability. The streets would be similar to those found in modern European cities, where you can find a mix of shops, homes, and parks. The vibe is lively, with people moving around, and you might even bump into a friend while shopping or just blend into the crowd.
This is precisely the atmosphere that deFarm strives to create. We want you to imagine deFarm's Social Layer as a vibrant European city with every user having their own store on the main street. We empowers users to create their own unique spaces (or farms), each is a personalized corner reflecting your individual idea/strategy. All of this is what we called the Social Layer.
deFarm consists of two major components: the Social Layer and the Asset Management Layer. Our platform's Social Layer concept encompasses all aspects of user interaction. To us, connectivity is not just a feature, but a fundamental component that shapes our entire ecosystem.

What is Gamification?

It goes beyond just boosting productivity; the psychological benefits of gamification touch various aspects of our lives.
A standout advantage of gamification is its ability to promote social interaction. Playing games with others allows us to share experiences, build relationships, and learn together. This not only makes the experience more enjoyable but also expands our social networks and hone our communication skills.

Seed, as we explained in the previous blog, is a creator token whose value is tied to one’s reputation and performance within deFarm’s ecosystem. Each user on deFarm has a unique "Seed". This Seed is not just a token; it's a key that unlocks exclusive features and privileges within the deFarm community.
The Social Point System is a gamified approach to encourage users to actively participate in various activities on the platform. Users earn Social Points by performing actions like buying or selling Seeds, creating farms, and joining farms. These points contribute to leveling up, unlocking rewards, and showcasing an individual's commitment and engagement.
The leveling system is a progression feature where users ascend through different levels based on their accumulated Social Points.
